Owning a dog is such a wonderful and rewarding experience. I can't imagine my life without two amazing dogs (Pilsner and Blaze). Both of them are rescue dogs that were found on the streets of San Antonio Texas and I adopted both of them through Wagging Tails Adoption. But when they first arrived at their no home, it wasn't so wonderful and rewarding. I adopted Pilsner and then a year later I acquired Blaze and each of them we're about 1year old at the time and neither of them had no formal training and had a variety of behavior problems that needed to be modified. Blaze was especially challenging to train, he was in the shelter system since he was only 6 weeks old and during that time he had accumulated a lot of anxiety that snowballed into a mountain of unwanted behaviors. Bit luckily I had the knowledge and skills to heal them of their pain by a combination of advanced obedience training, behavioral modification, socialization, and exercise. And now they are one of my greatest tools when I train dogs.
besides Dog Training and Pet Sitting, I also worked outside with large packs of dogs (12-23 dogs/day, 80 dogs/week, 3000 dogs/year) for 3 years which was the most educational experience of my life. Being able to work with dog packs exclusively outside is one of the most unique skills in the Pet Sitting Industry which gives you the amazing experience to work with many different breeds of dogs with different personalities each day. Becoming a strong " Leader of the Pack" required myself to form a bond of trust and respect with each dog and perform off-leash basic obedience with each of them. I had the greatest mentor who was extremely meticulous with my training and I am ever so grateful to her.
Marta Hildbrand has been working with dogs for fifteen years and is the owner of Auntie Marta's Pet Sitting Services, LLC. and is one of the most well respected and successful Pet Sitting services in Saratoga County because of her passion, dedication, professionalism and high standards of customer service toward both the client and their furry friends that every pet sitter should strive to achieve. Marta taught me the art of simultaneously reading Canine body language of many dogs giving me the ability to correct dogs whose energy was off and bringing them to a calmer state of mind to always keeping the Pack balance. When working with dogs, the most important concept is always safety and taking immediate action, ranging from recognizing the warning signs of when a dog is beginning to over heat and cooling them off with a burst of water from the hose, grouping the dogs in the yard by friends, making sure gates were always kept closed and escape proof, having an action plan if Mother Nature decided to release a surprise thunder and lightning storm, keeping the yard clean and removing any kind of objects that a dog could possible resource guard and so much more. Marta saw my passion for working with dogs and intensified my training and teaching me with all of her knowledge and began slowing allowing me to watch small groups of dogs for short amount of times after I was fully Insured and bonded for doggy daycare at her residence. Overtime after proving over and over that I had fully absorbed the skills and had that special responsible mentality that it takes to work with our furry friends and keep them safe by reading and communicating with them in their own special language I was successfully watching large groups of dogs by myself and became a strong pack leader capable of working with large groups of dogs which ultimately led me to be a better Trainer.
I can remember when I first got my dog's and how stressful it was. Taking Blaze for a walk was something that I dreaded at first. He would constantly pull on the leash and barked at everything that had a heartbeat and it was so embarrassing. I couldn't take him anywhere and his behavior definitely created some anxiety in my life. But I know how to work with dogs and knew their was a light at the end of the tunnel and it was just going to take Training and time. I know many of you out there are having stressful relationships with your dogs due to its behavior and I know exactly what your going through and how you feel. Both of you are having a negative impact on each other's lives and it's not fair to either of you. But it doesn't have to be this way and it's my passion in life go help you restore balance to your dogs life and your life.
